A paying guest in individual educational placement is a person who is staying in a family who wishes to either work or study and has a full immersion of the target language.

The board consists of a single room with a bed, wardrobe, and a table or desk. Meals are provided (breakfast and evening meals) packed lunch if required, laundry is taken care of by the family. The person is independent (this depends on age) but is expected to fit in with the family.

Language tuition can be arranged in or around the location of the stay, generally this is one-to-one tuition by a native tutor. Please give us specific requirement for the tuition: E.g. 1-2 hours per day to intensive courses, business etc. 

The transport is not included in the price (except students visiting families in Boulogne sur Mer) and applicants must arrange his/her own transport. Families are expected to pick him/her up from point of arrival.

The person needs to be covered with travel insurance, accidental damage and theft during his/her stay in the family, EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and a valid passport, photo copies of Travel Insurance, EHIC (European Health Insurance Card)  and  passport  are required before the departure date.

A close link is maintained between the families and the organiser as they are all interviewed and visited beforehand.

Cancellation: In case of cancellation by the student, 50% of the deposit/payment will be given. If Interhome cancels the stay, a full refund will be given. After the departure date no refund will be given. We advise our students to take cancellation/travel insurance. Return of the student (if the travel organised be Interhome) before the official retuning date will be at the student’s expense.

N.B.   Any  further stay with a present family can only be  rebooked through Interhome Language Services

We have now the opportunity to offer a Work Placement Service abroad in the sectors of industry, offices, schools, hotels and farms in France The object is to help young people acquire full language immersion and work experience at a professional level.

Summer Work placement - France Normandy:

1 - Working on a farm as a general assistant - to help with the production of Bio-Bread and other farm products - selling the bread at the local markets (Driving licence an advantage) and helping in the farm restaurant: Accommodation and all meals provided. This is a good opportunity for a full language immersion in French for as long as you wish to stay.

2 - Working on a bio farm as a general assistant  looking after animals; cows, goats, chickens; help with the making of pâté, cheese and cider. Accommodation and all meals provided This is a good opportunity for a full language immersion in French.

Accommodation:  Generally provided by the work placement and full board. (Some Work Placements do not provide accommodation please check.)

Travel arrangement: Candidates will organise their own transport to and from the placement.
